A Special ALL-DAY Track Class Event!!! June 28th, 2009
Their “Extended Day of Instruction” on April 4th and May 23rd were a huge succes in terms of results…. so they are doing it again. Video of Larry (64 yrs old on a Beemer) , Video of Rodrigo and Tim , Video of David Werth.
Free Track Day is very pleased to announce that after a very successful partnership day with Faasst Performance Driving School… They are launching full class days!!! On June 28th, at Sandia Motorsports Park, they will be offering an ALL-DAY track school event.
They’ve added a couple of new skill drills and began to focus NOT on riding Sandia Motorsports Park, but rather being able to “read” a track — allowing for maximum seat time for their students, and making it possible to ride your bike well at any track, any time. Most of their private classes feature just a couple hours of track time, where their Extended Day of Instruction will give their clients up to 6 hours of seat time…. WOW!
Treating this day as an EVENT gives Free Track Day a chance to shine. They will provide lunch, bottled water and soft drinks… while providing energy drinks and Nutrilite supplements for a nominal fee.
Registration is limited – so register now to reserve your spot!!! Check out the Testimonial Pages to see what you can expect. Testimonials
All that aside, where’s the adversity? Well, there are others in town that would like to see Free Track Day go away. You’d think that training people how to ride their sportbikes in a safe manner in a controlled environment would be a positive thing. Furthermore, donating FREE track lessons to newer, young sportbike riders would have to be a good thing. There are at least two voices in the area that haven’t had great things to say. There have been assertions that Free Track Day skimped on safety during an open track day, eventhough they utilized Air Fence provided by the Roadracing World Action Fund, gave novices a tour of the track, had assigned track mentors and had medical personnel on site. They have been publicly called “fly-by-night” and the lead coach has even been accused of living in his toyhauler.
When asked about these things… Kurt von Ahnen said he was at first upset by the attack especially since he has only tried to grow the sport in a positive manner. He then stated that it seemed to be a sudden turn in perception toward his effort and indicated that the economy may be causing others to act out of character. “Perhaps I should do what I profess to be – act like a Christian and pray for them?”
Committed to the cause of making motorcycling a safer experience, Free Track Day has indicated that it intends to stay. The priority is education, but expansion into entertainment and promotion may follow.
